Ronald S. Johnson, D. M. D., F. A. G. D.
Dr. Johnson grew up in Farmington, New Mexico and graduated from Farmington High School in 1975. He earned his Bachelor of University Studies degree in 1979 from the University of New Mexico and went on to receive his Doctor of Medical Dentistry from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts in 1982. Dr. Johnson’s career in dentistry began in the Commission Corp at Indian Health Services in Shiprock. He went into private practice in Farmington in 1983.
Dr. Johnson’s post graduate studies include attending thousands of hours of continuing education. He has completed a 2 year practicum on dental implants; has received post graduate training in neuromuscular dentistry; and is a graduate of Advanced Functional Aesthetics from the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies.
Dr. Johnson is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, New Mexico Dental Association and Northwest District Dental Society. He has served terms as president of the New Mexico Dental Association, Northwest District Dental Society, and New Mexico Donated Dental Services. Dr. Johnson is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, the Academy of Dentistry International and the Academy of General Dentistry. He serves on the Dental Programs Advisory Board at San Juan College and is a graduate member of Leadership San Juan.
Dr. Johnson’s community service activities include: volunteering with the Donated Dental Services and Give Kids a Smile programs, donating no cost dental services to the needy, elderly, and children; donating dental care for, and serving since 1998 as a Board member of Childhaven which is a shelter for abused, abandoned and/or neglected children; serving since 1990 as a Board member and past Chairman of the Board of the Better Business Bureau which promotes and advocates good business practices; and, serving since 1996 as a Dentist of the Day during the New Mexico State Legislature. His services in the past include: serving as a board member of the American Red Cross for 8 years; serving on the Eagle Scout Board of Review; serving 4 years as an Assistant Coach for the Farmington High School Swim Team; and, serving as a youth mentor, youth group sponsor, Congregational Life Committee Leader and Elder in his Church.
C. Patrick Montoya, D. D. S., F.A.G.D.
Dr. Montoya, a native New Mexican, grew up in Albuquerque where he graduated from Sandia High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1969 from UNM. While completing his Masters of Science degree, Dr. Montoya worked at the UNM School of Medicine where he co-authored two scientific articles.
A 1990 honor graduate of Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas, Dr. Montoya was a distinguished member of the Odontological Honor Society. After graduation, Dr. Montoya began his practice as a commissioned officer in the
Public Health Service/Indian Health Service treating Native America patients at the Shiprock and Dzlith-Na-O-Dith-Le health clinics. He joined Dr. Johnson in private practice in 1992. In keeping pace with the rapid advances in dentistry, Dr Montoya has gone on to complete over 1000 hours of continuing education courses including courses on orthodontics, endodontics and a 2 year practicum on dental implants.
Dr. Montoya is a member of the American Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, Hispanic Dental Association and Northwest District Dental Society.
He volunteers with the Donated Dental Services and the Give Kids a Smile program, which donates no cost dental services to needy, elderly, and children.
Dr. Montoya donates hundreds of hours to a variety of additional community service programs. He volunteers at a dental clinic in Mexico 1 week a year with the mission committee from the First Presbyterian Church in Farmington; has volunteered his Fridays at Presbyterian Health Services which provides low cost dental care for low income patients; been a volunteer driver with meals-on-wheels for over 20 years; been active with Big Brothers/Big Sisters for over 10 years and has been an active Lion with the Farmington Evening Lion’s Club for over 15 years.
Dr. Montoya married his wife Marilyn in 1982, he has one daughter, Lori and two beautiful granddaughters.
For fun, Dr. Montoya enjoys fishing; especially fly fishing in the quality waters of the San Juan River and occasionally a family hunting trip with his father and uncles.
